The notion of \(N\)-\(\mathcal F\)-amenability was introduced in [\textit{A. Bartels} et al., Geom. Topol. 12, No. 3, 1799--1882 (2008; Zbl 1185.20045)]. This paper concerns the following characterization theorem of \(N\)-\(\mathcal F\)-amenability proved by \textit{E. Guentner} et al. [Math. Ann. 367, No. 1--2, 785--829 (2017; Zbl 1380.37018), Proposition 4.5]:\N\NLet \(\Gamma \curvearrowright X\) be an action of a discrete group \(\Gamma\) on a compact Hausdorff space \(X\), \(\mathcal F\) a virtually closed family of subgroups of \(\Gamma\) and \(N\) a nonnegative integer. Then the following conditions are equivalent:\N\begin{itemize}\N\item[(1)] \(\Gamma \curvearrowright X\) is \(N\)-\(\mathcal F\)-amenable;\N\item[(2)] For every finite subset \(E\) of \(\Gamma\) and every \(\epsilon>0\) there exist a simplicial \(\Gamma\)-complex \(K\) and a continuous map \(f: X\to |K|_{\ell_1}\) satisfying the properties: \N\begin{itemize}\N\item[(a)] for every vertex \(v\) of \(K\), \(\{\gamma\in\Gamma\mid \gamma v = v\} \in {\mathcal F}\); \N\item[(b)] \(\dim K \leq N\); \N\item[(c)] \(\sup_{(\gamma, X)\in E\times X} d_{\ell_1}(f(\gamma x), \gamma f(x)) < \epsilon\).\N\end{itemize}\N\end{itemize}\N\NHere \((|K|_{\ell_1}, d_{\ell_1})\) denotes the geometric realization of \(K\) in the Banach space \(\ell_1(K^{(0)})\). The authors point out that in the proof for the part (1) \(\Rightarrow\) (2) of this theorem, there are some steps that are unclear. In this paper the authors fix those issues by giving a detailed proof for the part (1) \(\Rightarrow\) (2).
