This paper introduces cyclic hyperbolicity, defined as weak hyperbolicity relative to cyclic subgroups and characterizes it in the context of virtually cocompact special groups: such a group is cyclically hyperbolic if and only if it does not contain \(F_2 \times F_2\) (Theorem~1.1).\N\NWithin the setting of groups acting geometrically on CAT(0) cube complexes, the author proves that cyclic hyperbolicity implies a virtual splitting as \(A \times H\) with \(A\) free abelian and \(H\) acylindrically hyperbolic (Theorem~1.2) and establishes a strong Tits alternative (Theorem~1.4).
