      Assume that \(k+1\) functions \(F_1,F_2,\ldots,F_k,G\) are given on a Riemannian manifold. Then, vector fields are constructed which preserve \(F_1,\ldots,F_k\) and which dissipate the function \(G\) with a prescribed rate. It is shown that all these vector fields are generated by the ``standard control vector field''. For the Euclidean case, this construction is contained in [\textit{B. N. Shashikanth}, J. Nonlinear Sci. 20, No. 1, 81--103 (2010; Zbl 1433.37079)]. Then, the geometry of the standard control vector field is studied. It is shown that the Landau-Lifschitz equation and the cubic dissipation of the rigid body introduced by Morrisson can be described as a system perturbed by the standard control vector field.
