The presented survey concentrates on the aspects of energy consumption of data centers together with power-saving strategies. The authors describe many energy-efficient techniques for dynamic power management, dynamic voltage/frequency scaling and virtualization. After that, various aspects of server and network resource management are evaluated like server and network architectures or network protocols, while future research issues are being discussed. The authors also present several data center simulation tools as the best known method for evaluation of energy demand in data centers.
