      \textit{M. Rubin} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 312, No. 2, 487--538 (1989; Zbl 0677.54029)] proved the following theorem:\N\NTheorem. Let \(G\) be a group acting faithfully on two locally compact Hausdorff topological spaces \(X\) and \(Y\), both without isolated points such that for each open subset \(U \subseteq X\) and \(V\subseteq Y\) and each point \(p \in U\) and \(q \in V\) the closures of the orbits of \(p\) and \(q\) under the groups\N\(G_U = \{ g \in G : \operatorname{supp}(g) \subseteq U \}\) and \(G_V = \{ g \in G : \operatorname{supp}(g) \subseteq V \}\) contain a neighbourhood of \(p\) and \(q\), respectively.\N\NThen there exists a \(G\)-equivariant homeomorphism \(X \longrightarrow Y\).\N\NThe authors here prove this result again with a shorter, elegant proof based on equivalence classes of ultrafilters.
