\textit{Y. Kazama} and \textit{H. Suzuki} introduced a construction of the \(N=2\) superconformal algebra, including the \(N=2\) superconformal minimal models [Nuclear Phys. B 321, No. 1, 232--268 (1989; \url{doi:10.1016/0550-3213(89)90250-2})]. In their work, they determined the conditions under which the \(N=1\) super-GKO coset construction can be extended to produce the \(N=2\) superconformal algebra.\N\NThe Kazama-Suzuki construction and its inverse were later interpreted in the language of vertex operator algebras by the first-named author as embeddings between certain simple vertex algebras [Int. Math. Res. Not. 1999, No. 2, 61--79 (1999; Zbl 0920.17013)]). This interpretation has proved to be a powerful tool in studying the representation theory of superconformal algebras. In particular, the Kazama-Suzuki method was used to establish the rationality and regularity of the \(N=2\) superconformal vertex algebra \(L_{c_m}^{N=2}\) for \(m\in \mathbb{Z}\) and to determine its fusion rules.\N\NMore generally, Kazama-Suzuki type constructions lead to dualities between vertex algebras. Such dualities are especially valuable because they relate the representation theory of two different algebras. When the representation theory of one algebra is better understood, it can be used to derive results for the other. Consequently, identifying and classifying instances of Kazama-Suzuki duality is an important problem in the theory of vertex algebras and \(\mathcal{W}\)-algebras.\N\NIn this paper, the authors classify all possible occurrences of Kazama-Suzuki duality between the \(N=2\) superconformal vertex algebra \(L_c^{N=2}\) and the subregular \(\mathcal{W}\)-algebra \(\mathcal{W}_k(\mathfrak{sl}_4,f_{\mathrm{sub}})\). Their results show that such dualities occur only for two specific parameter values, namely\N\[\Nk=-1,\quad c=-15, \qquad \text{and} \qquad k=-\frac{7}{3},\quad c=1.\N\]\NThe paper also provides an explicit realization of the duality and applies it to classify irreducible modules in one of the cases.\N\NIn Section 2, the authors review background material needed for the paper. This includes lattice vertex superalgebras \(\mathcal{F}_{\pm1}\) associated with a rank one lattice \(L=\mathbb{Z}\varphi^{\pm}\) with bilinear form \(\langle\varphi^{\pm},\varphi^{\pm}\rangle=\pm1\). The section also recalls basic facts about the \(N=2\) superconformal algebra, spectral-flow automorphisms, Li's \(\Delta\)-operator, and twisted highest-weight conditions.\N\NThe authors then introduce a notion of Kazama-Suzuki duality for vertex superalgebras. Roughly speaking, two vertex superalgebras \(U\) and \(V\) are Kazama-Suzuki dual if each can be realized as the commutant of a Heisenberg subalgebra inside a suitable extension of the other by a lattice vertex superalgebra.\N\NThe section also recalls properties of the universal subregular \(\mathcal{W}\)-algebra \(\mathcal{W}^k(\mathfrak{g},f_{\mathrm{sub}})\) associated with a simple Lie algebra \(\mathfrak{g}\) and level \(k\). When \(\mathfrak{g}=\mathfrak{sl}_n\), this algebra is isomorphic to the Feigin-Semikhatov algebra \(W_n^{(2)}\) via a free-field realization. The paper focuses on the case \(\mathfrak{g}=\mathfrak{sl}_4\), for which the vertex algebra \(\mathcal{W}^k(\mathfrak{sl}_4,f_{\mathrm{sub}})\) has central charge\N\[\Nc_k=-\frac{(3k+8)(8k+17)}{k+4}.\N\]\NFinally, the authors recall the spectral flow automorphisms of \(\mathcal{W}^k(\mathfrak{sl}_4,f_{\mathrm{sub}})\) and the construction of twisted modules using Li's \(\Delta\)-operator.\N\NIn Section 3, the authors classify all possible occurrences of Kazama-Suzuki duality between the \(N=2\) superconformal algebra and the subregular \(\mathcal{W}\)-algebra \(\mathcal{W}_k(\mathfrak{sl}_4,f_{\mathrm{sub}})\), where \(\mathcal{W}_k(\mathfrak{sl}_4,f_{\mathrm{sub}})\) denotes the simple quotient of \(\mathcal{W}^k(\mathfrak{sl}_4,f_{\mathrm{sub}})\). They prove that the duality can occur only for the two parameter values listed above.\N\NSection 4 investigates the case \(k=-1\), where the central charge of \(\mathcal{W}^k(\mathfrak{sl}_4,f_{\mathrm{sub}})\) equals \(c=-15\). The authors show that the simple algebra \(\mathcal{W}_{-1}(\mathfrak{sl}_4,f_{\mathrm{sub}})\) is Kazama-Suzuki dual to the \(N=2\) superconformal vertex algebra of central charge \(-15\).\N\NIn Section 5, the authors classify irreducible highest-weight modules for \(\mathcal{W}_{-1}(\mathfrak{sl}_4,f_{\mathrm{sub}})\). Using the realization established in the previous section, they first demonstrate the existence of irreducible highest weight modules by embedding \(\mathcal{W}_{-1}(\mathfrak{sl}_4,f_{\mathrm{sub}})\) into \(L_c^{N=2}\otimes \mathcal{F}_1\). They then complete the classification of irreducible modules via the inverse Kazama-Suzuki construction.\N\NOverall, the paper provides a clear and carefully developed study of Kazama-Suzuki duality in the context of vertex algebras. The authors obtain a precise classification of all possible occurrences of the duality between the \(N=2\) superconformal vertex algebra and the subregular \(\mathcal{W}\)-algebra \(\mathcal{W}_k(\mathfrak{sl}_4,f_{\mathrm{sub}})\), thereby resolving a natural and important question in the theory of \(\mathcal{W}\)-algebras.\N\NThe methods combine structural results on vertex algebras, spectral flow techniques, and free-field realizations in an effective and elegant way. In particular, the explicit realization of \(\mathcal{W}_{-1}(\mathfrak{sl}_4,f_{\mathrm{sub}})\) inside \(L_c^{N=2}\otimes \mathcal{F}_1\) provides a powerful tool for understanding its representation theory.\N\NThe paper is well organized and written in a clear and accessible style. The background material provided in the early sections helps guide the reader through the technical aspects of the theory. I believe that the results presented in this work will be of interest to researchers working in vertex operator algebras, \(\mathcal{W}\)-algebras, conformal field theory, and representation theory, and that the paper will serve as a valuable reference for further investigations of Kazama-Suzuki dualities.
