The authors describe all Gaussian generating functionals on several easy quantum groups given by non-crossing partitions. This includes in particular the free unitary, orthogonal and symplectic quantum groups. The main result of the paper can be summarized as follows: every Gaussian generating functional \(\phi\) on the free unitary quantum group \(U^+_N\) admits a unique decomposition into the sum of a ``drift'' part \(D_H\) determined by an anti-hermitian matrix \(H\in M_N(\mathbb{C})\) and a ``diffusion'' part \(\Gamma_W\) determined by a matrix \(W\in M_N(\mathbb{C})\otimes M_N(\mathbb{C}) \) satisfying a certain positivity condition. Conversely, every pair \(H,W\) as above leads to a Gaussian generating functional \(\phi = D_H +\Gamma_W.\) Furthermore, the authors characterize central Gaussian generating functionals and describe a centralization procedure yielding interesting (non-Gaussian) generating functionals.
