In this paper the theory of IPH (increasing positively homogeneous of degree one) functions defined on \({\mathbb R}^n\) is developed. Along the line of results for IPH functions defined on \({\mathbb R}^n_+,\) the authors examine two kinds of presentations of IPH functions defined on \({\mathbb R}^n,\) namely their primal representation, and their dual representation, that turns out to be much more complicated in this case compared to the case of IPH functions defined on the positive orthant \({\mathbb R}_+^n\). As a primal representation, they provide a characterization of lower semicontinuous and upper semicontinuous IPH functions on \({\mathbb R}^n\) through the Minkowski gauges and co-gauges of suitable sets. The dual representation is given in terms of functions that coincide with a min-type function on a certain cone, which depends on the function, and is equal to \(-\infty\) outside of this cone. In the end, the authors examine abstract convexity and abstract concavity of nonnegative IPH and DPH functions.
