In this work, the authors deal with two notions of formality. The first one concerns spaces whose Sullivan minimal models ``can be computed formally from their cohomology ring'' [\textit{D. Sullivan}, Publ. Math., Inst. Hautes Étud. Sci. 47, 269--331 (1977; Zbl 0374.57002)]. The second involves actions of a Lie group \(G\) on a space \(X\): such action is said equivariantly formal if the Serre spectral sequence for the rational cohomology of the Borel fibration, \(X\to X\times_{G}EG\to BG\), collapses on the second page [\textit{M. Goresky} et al., Invent. Math. 131, No. 1, 25--83 (1998; Zbl 0897.22009)]. The authors address the following question: let \(G\) be a compact connected Lie group, \(\sigma\) be a group of automorphisms of \(G\) and \(G_{0}^{\sigma}\) be the identity component of the fixed point set of \(\sigma\). Does it hold true that the isotropy action on \(G/G_{0}^{\sigma}\) is equivariantly formal? They prove the following result.\N\N\underline{Theorem:} Let \(G\) be a compact connected Lie group and let \(\sigma\) be a group of automorphisms of \(G\) isomorphic to \(\mathbb Z_{2}\oplus \mathbb Z_{2}\). Then the isotropy action on \(G/G_{0}^{\sigma}\) is equivariantly formal. As the authors mention, this result has already been established by other methods by \textit{S. Hagh Shenas Noshari} in Theorem 1.2 of [On the equivariant cohomology of isotropy actions. Universität Marburg (PhD Thesis) (2018)].\N\NAs for the methods used in the paper under review, the authors show that arguments giving the Sullivan formality of \(\mathbb Z_{2}\oplus \mathbb Z_{2}\)-symmetric spaces are strong enough to yield equivariant formality. The proofs proceed by stepping through the classification of these spaces.
