The main contribution of this paper is to provide a new method for researching the spectral characterizations of some trees. For this purpose, the authors develop a new method based on the eigenvalue multiplicities. As special cases, the spectral characterization recently obtained for the \(p\)-sun and the double \((p, q)\)-sun can be recovered.
