    This paper deals with the problem of finding a point transformation from a given system of coordinates (usually position-momenta) to a special system of coordinates, called orthogonal, with respect to which the corresponding Hamilton-Jacobi equation \[ \tfrac 12 g^{ij} \partial_iW \partial_jW+ V= E\tag{1} \] admits a complete integral of the form \[ W(q,c)= W_1(q^1,c)+\cdots+ W_n(q^n,c), \tag{2} \] where \(q= (q^1,\dots, q^n)\) are the coordinates, and \(c:= (c_1,\dots, c_n)\) are the constants of integration, \(\partial_i= \frac{\partial} {\partial q^i}\), \(\partial^i= \frac{\partial} {\partial p_i}\) and the coefficients \(g^{ij}\), \(i,j= 1,\dots, n\), represent a \((2,0)\) metric tensor \(g\). The authors use the method of moving frames and propose to find and classify these coordinates. The authors' approach is based on \textit{S. Benenti}'s theorem [J. Math. Phys. 38, 6578--6602 (1997; Zbl 0899.70011), Rend. Semin. Mat., Torino 50, 315--341 (1992; Zbl 0796.53017)].
