The paper continues the line of research initiated by \textit{G. E. Andrews} and \textit{M. Merca} [J. Comb. Theory, Ser. A 119, No. 8, 1639--1643 (2012; Zbl 1246.05014)] on truncated identities for partition functions and their consequences for inequalities. The authors focus on the overpartition function \(p(n)\), whose generating function is \N\[\N\sum_{n \ge 0} p(n) q^n = \frac{(-q;q)_\infty}{(q;q)_\infty}.\N\]\NBuilding upon Bailey's transformation formulas, the paper introduces two new Bailey pairs and also makes use of an identity of Wang and Yee. From these ingredients, the authors establish several new truncated series identities. Each identity yields infinite families of inequalities for \(p(n)\).\N\NThe main results are stated in Theorems 1.1, 1.3, and 1.5, with corresponding corollaries (1.2, 1.4, 1.6) giving explicit inequalities satisfied by the overpartition function. These extend and generalize known inequalities in the literature. Concrete examples of such inequalities are provided by specializing parameters in the corollaries.\N\NThe article is carefully written, with a thorough review of prior results and a clear description of the methods used. The proofs rely on advanced techniques from the theory of \(q\)-series, in particular Bailey pairs and transformation formulas. The results significantly enlarge the repertoire of inequalities known for the overpartition function and fit naturally into the recent stream of research on truncated identities. The paper will be of interest to specialists in partition theory, \(q\)-series, and analytic/combinatorial number theory.
