\textit{A. Connes} [C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris, Sér. I 296, 953--958 (1983; Zbl 0534.18009); Publ. Math., Inst. Hautes Étud. Sci. 62, 41--144 (1985; Zbl 0592.46056)] associated to any algebra a cyclic vector space whose cohomology is called the cyclic cohomology of the algebra. \textit{S. E. Akrami} and \textit{S. Majid} [J. Math. Phys. 45, No. 10, 3883--3911 (2004; Zbl 1071.58006)] generalized this construction by associating to any ribbon algebra a cyclic vector space.\N\NThis paper endows the set of ribbon string links with the structure of a cyclic set and of a cocyclic set (Theorem 3.1). It is then established (Theorem 6.2 and Corollary 6.3) that these (co)cyclic sets universally dominate the (co)cyclic sets associated to the coends of ribbon categories. \textit{A. Bruguiéres} and \textit{A. Virelizier} [Algebr. Geom. Topol. 5, 1677--1710 (2005; Zbl 1116.57011)] have shown that the quantum invariants à la \textit{N. Yu. Reshetikhin} and \textit{V. G. Turaev} [Commun. Math. Phys. 127, No. 1, 1--26 (1990; Zbl 0768.57003)] associated to a ribbon category \(\mathcal{B}\)\ gives rise to a functor \(\phi_{\mathcal{B}}\) from the category \(\boldsymbol{RSL}\) of ribbon string links to the convolution category \(\mathrm{Conv}_{\mathcal{B}}\left( \mathbb{F},\boldsymbol{1}\right) \), where \(\mathbb{F}\) is the coend of \(\mathcal{B}\) and \(\boldsymbol{1}\) is the monoidal unit of \(\mathcal{B}\). The author shows the functor \(\phi_{\mathcal{B}}\) induces a morphism of (co)cyclic sets from the (co)cyclic sets associated to ribbon string links to the (co)cyclic sets associated with the braided Hopf algebra \(\mathbb{F}\).
