      The author investigates the strong solvability of the Cauchy-Dirichlet problem for parabolic quasilinear equations of the form \N\[\N \begin{cases} D_t u- a^{ij}(x,t,u) D_{ij}u=f(x,t,u,Du) & \text{ in } Q=\Omega\times (0,T)\\\Nu=0 & \text{ on } \partial Q. \end{cases} \N\]\NThe principal coefficients are VMO type with respect to the spatial variable \(x\), and merely measurable in the time variable \(t\). Under appropriate structural conditions on the nonlinear terms, the existence and uniqueness of a strong solution in the space \(W^{2,1}_{n+1}(Q)\cap C(Q)\) are established. The approach is based on the Nazarov-Ural'tseva maximum principle for parabolic equations and Leray-Schauder fixed point theorem.
