The author investigates Matlis reflexive modules, originally introduced in [\textit{E. Matlis}, Pac. J. Math. 8, 511--528 (1958; Zbl 0084.26601)]. It is shown that the Matlis reflexive modules form a Serre subcategory satisfying the Krull-Schmidt property (i.e. any reflexive module admits an essentially unique decomoposition into finitely many indecomposable modules with local endomorphisms rings).\N\NNext a version Matlis duality for locally finitely supported modules is obtained. Section 4 is devoted to the study of categories of extension and this is applied, in the following section, to the case of Artinian and Noetherian classes.\N\NCharacterizations of locally finitely supported \(\hat A\)-modules are presented, where \(\hat A\) is the completion of a commutative noetherian ring \(A\). Finally, some interesting examples are presented.
