Associated with any Type I nonmetrisable manifold Nyikos has constructed a well-pruned \(\omega_1\)-tree. This paper reverses the process, i.e. given such a tree it is shown how to construct \(2^{\aleph_1}\) Type I nonmetrisable \(n\)-manifolds (\(n\geq 2\)) having that Nyikos tree. This connection is then used to relate possible properties of the manifold, such as whether it contains a copy of \(\omega_1\) or is \(\omega_1\)-compact, to properties of the Nyikos tree.
