This article is a study of the iterative dynamics of two classes of quasiconformal maps, aiming to bridge the gap between complex analysis, dynamical systems theory, and real polynomial mappings. The authors investigate Beltrami-type quasiconformal maps and generalised quasiconformal maps, focusing particularly on the generalised Hénon family. More specifically:\N\N(1) The authors introduce and analyse the planar diffeomorphism \N\[\NF(x, y) = (\rho \sin x - \delta y, x),\N\]\Nwhich is shown to be quasiconformal in the Beltrami sense. This map exhibits both a global attractor (for \(|\delta| < 1\)) and a growing horseshoe, where the number of folds increases with \(|\rho|\). This combination of attracting and chaotic behavior is not usual and suggests that this map may serve as a more faithful discrete model for the Lorenz system than the classical Hénon map.\N\N(2) The authors reformulate the generalised Hénon map \N\[\NF(x, y) = (p(x) - \delta y, x) \N\]\Nin complex coordinates and show that it belongs to a class of generalised quasiconformal maps that are neither Beltrami nor David-Beltrami. This possibly provides a new perspective on Hénon dynamics in the sense that it might allow the use of tools from quasiconformal theory.\N\N(3) They construct an invariant measure for the real Hénon map using Green's functions. In addition, properties of wandering domains are derived from this, showing that under certain conditions, the limit function of iterates on a wandering domain must be degenerate.\N\N(4) The results are supported by numerical simulations illustrating the growth of horseshoes and the structure of attractors.\N\NThe paper concludes with a list of open problems.\N\NAll in all, the paper connects quasiconformal theory with discrete dynamics. The paper is well-written, carefully structured, and rich in both theory and examples. It will be of interest to researchers in dynamical systems, complex analysis, and related fields.
