A class of nonlinear reaction-diffusion systems is considered. Some automatic control problems based on feedback devices on the boundary are formulated. Two different types of devices are analysed: relay switch and Preisach hysteresis operator. The resulting models lead to a nonlinear parabolic system with nonlinear and nonlocal boundary conditions. The global existence and uniqueness in both considered cases is proved. More precisely, the considered reaction-diffusion system for \(u,v\in [0,T]\times\Omega\rightarrow \mathbb{R}\) is \[ D_t u-\nabla\cdot(D_1(x)\nabla u)= a_1 u+b_1 u^2+c_1 uv+d_1v+ u(f_1\star u+g_1\star v) , \] \[ D_t v-\nabla\cdot(D_2(x)\nabla v)= a_2u+b_2 v^2+c_2 uv+d_2v+ v(f_2\star u+g_2\star v) , \] in \(\Omega_T:=(0,T)\times\Omega\), \(\Omega\) being a bounded domain in \(\mathbb{R}^3\) with a smooth boundary \(\Gamma\) and \(T>0\). For \(i=1,2\), the functions \(D_i:\Omega\rightarrow (0,+\infty)\) are the diffusion coefficients, while \(a_i\), \(b_i\), \(c_i\), \(d_i\) are given constants and \(f_i\), \(g_i\) are time dependent functions. Here \((p\star q)(t)\) stands for the usual convolution product over \((0, t)\). There are some restrictions on the sign properties of the coefficients \(a_i\), \(b_i\), \(c_i\), \(d_i\) and the kernels \(f_i\), \(g_i\), which are natural from practical point of view. The practical applications concern the number of phenomena modelled with reaction-diffusions systems in various fields of applied sciences, e.g. biology, ecology, biochemistry and engineering sciences, among them population dynamics, Belousov-Zhabotinskij reaction and nuclear reactor dynamics.
