For a topological group \(G\) and a principal \(G\)-bundle \(P\to M\), let \(\mathcal{G}(P)\) denote the gauge group of \(P\). For based spaces \(X\) and \(Y\), let \([X,Y]\) denote the set of all based homotopy classes of the based mappings from \(X\) to \(Y\). Now, suppose that \(n\) is a fixed positive integer such that \(n\geq 3\), and note that there is an isomorphism \([\mathbb{C}P^3,BSU(n)]\cong\mathbb{Z}\cdot\epsilon_1\oplus \mathbb{Z}\cdot\epsilon_2\), where \(e_k\in\pi_k(BSU(n))\cong\mathbb{Z}\) \((k=4,6\)) denotes the corresponding generator and we denote by \(\epsilon_j\in [\mathbb{C}P^3,BSU(n)]\) \((j=1,2\)) the homotopy class represented by the following composite of maps\N\[\N\begin{cases} \epsilon_1: \mathbb{C}P^3\stackrel{\mathrm{pinch}}{\longrightarrow}\mathbb{C}P^3/\mathbb{C}P^2=S^6\stackrel{e_6}{\longrightarrow}BSU(n), \\\N\epsilon_2: \mathbb{C}P^3\stackrel{\mathrm{pinch}}{\longrightarrow}\mathbb{C}P^3/\mathbb{C}P^1=S^4\vee S^6 \stackrel{\mathrm{pinch}}{\longrightarrow} S^4 \stackrel{e_4}{\longrightarrow}BSU(n). \end{cases}\N\]\NLet \(P_{l,k}\) denote the principal \(SU(n)\)-bundle over \(\mathbb{C}P^3\) classified by the map \(l\epsilon_1+k\epsilon_2\in [\mathbb{C}P^3,BSU(n)]\) and we denote by \(\mathcal{G}_{l,k}(\mathbb{C}P^3)\) its corresponding gauge group.\N\NThe author studies the classification problem of the homotopy types of these spaces \(\{\mathcal{G}_{l,k}(\mathbb{C}P^3):(l,k)\in\mathbb{Z}^2\}\). In this paper he considers this problem for the case \(l=0\). In particular, by using unstable \(K\)-theory, he proves that if there is a homotopy equivalence \(\mathcal{G}_{0,k}(\mathbb{C}P^3)\simeq\mathcal{G}_{0,k^{\prime}}(\mathbb{C}P^3)\) the following equality holds:\N\[\N\Big(\frac{(n-1)n(n+1)(n+2)}{d(n)},k\Big) =\Big(\frac{(n-1)n(n+1)(n+2)}{d(n)},k^{\prime}\Big),\N\]\Nwhere \((a,b)\) denotes the maximal common divisor of positive integers \(a\) and \(b\), and \(d(n)\) denotes the positive integer given by\N\[\Nd(n)= \begin{cases} 2 & \mbox{ if }n\equiv 1 \pmod 2,\\\N4 & \mbox{ if }n\equiv 0 \pmod 2. \end{cases}\N\]
