\textit{J. P. C. Greenlees} and \textit{J. P. May} [Generalized Tate cohomology. Providence, RI: American Mathematical Society (AMS) (1995; Zbl 0876.55003)] conjectured that the ring supporting the universal \(G\)-formal group law for an abelian compact Lie group \(G\), is isomorphic to the stable equivariant cobordism ring \(MU^G_*\). This conjecture was proven by \textit{B. Hanke} and \textit{M. Wiemeler} [Adv. Math. 340, 48--75 (2018; Zbl 1409.55012)] for \(G = \mathbb{Z}/2\), and then by \textit{M. Hausmann} [Ann. Math. (2) 195, No. 3, 841--910 (2022; Zbl 1503.57033)] for all abelian \(G\).\N\NThis paper provides an alternative proof of Hausmann's theorem, offering new insights into the structure of the equivariant Lazard ring \(MU^G_*\), different from \textit{P. Hu}'s work [``The coefficients of equivariant complex cobordism for primary cyclic groups'', to appear] on divisibility properties of the cobordism ring with respect to Euler classes. The authors present the \(G\)-equivariant Lazard ring as a deformation of the non-equivariant Lazard ring.
