The paper deals with the simulation of viscous fluid flow at all speeds with the restriction to steady-state situations. Thereby, the validity of LU-SGS method designed to calculate the Navier-Stokes equations is extended to the low Mach number case by means of a preconditioning technique. Due to the fact that the preconditioning is carried out exclusively with respect to the time derivative, the range of application is restricted to steady-state fluid flow. Several examples like driven-cavity flows at various Reynolds numbers and viscous flow through a convergent-divergent nozzle show the ability and accuracy of the method.
