Against the background of the Duffing equation in the presence of a damping term, this paper examines the accuracy of extending He's frequency-amplitude equation to such a damped system. Numerics are performed to seek comparison with the analytical results as amplitude and damping coefficient are changed. Some simulation is also done by combining two electrical circuits as a model example of nonlinear oscillation. By taking into account certain technicalities involved, the main aim of the paper has been to find out the limits of applicability of He's frequency-amplitude equation and how suitable modifications could be carried out.
