In this paper, the authors investigate the number of small amplitude limit cycles of the following three-dimensional differential system: \N\[\N\frac{d x}{dt}=y+a, \quad \frac{d y}{dt}=-x+z, \quad\frac{d z}{dt}=-b x^2+z^2+c,\N\]\Nwhere \(a, b, c\) are arbitrary real numbers. This system has been studied previously, because it can exhibit chaotic motion when it has no equilibrium. In this paper, by using the averaging theory, the authors obtain sufficient conditions under which the system has two limit cycles bifurcating from the unique zero-Hopf equilibrium.
