Let \(T\) be a \(2n\) dimensional complex torus and consider the action of \(T\) on \(V=\operatorname{Sym}_n(\mathbb C^{2n})\), the symmetric \(n\)th-power of \(\mathbb C^{2n}\) induced by the canonical action of \(T\) on \(\mathbb C^{2n}\). In this short paper the author describes the closure of the \(T\)-orbits of \(T\) in \(\mathbb P(V)\): if \(a\in\mathbb P(V)\) is the class of \((a_1,\dots, a_N)\), then the closure of the \(T\)-orbit of \(a\) is the intersection of the hypersurfaces \(a_ia_jz_kz_t=a_ka_tz_iz_j\), \(i\neq j\), \(k\neq t\). As an application, the author studies the \(T\) action on the Grassmann manifold \(G_{2n,n}\) induced by the Plücker embedding \(G_{2n,n}\to \mathbb P(V)\). The author also characterizes when a \(T\)-orbit belongs to the closure of a principal orbit (that is, the orbit of a point \(a\in \mathbb P(V)\) with all coordinates non zero). This description is given by means of explicit calculations.\N\NThe closure of a \(T\)-orbit on \(P(V)\) being a complete toric variety, one should be able to use the description given here in order to explicitly calculate the associated complete fan -- the remaining calculations should follow from the ones given by the author.
