Given a Tychonoff space \(X\), let \(C(X)\) stand for the real-valued continuous functions on \(X\) with the uniform topology, and \(K(X)\) for the space of the nonempty compacts of \(X\) endowed with the Vietoris topology. The paper is a contribution to the constrained minimization problem, i.e. studying \((f,K)\in C(X)\times K(X)\) for which the multifunction \(\text{argmin}(f,K)=\{x\in K: f(x)=\min\{f(y):y\in K\}\}\) is single-valued.\N\NIt is first shown that \(\text{argmin}\) is a minimal usco map, which then allows to prove that \(\text{argmin}\) is single-valued on a residual subset of \(C(X)\times K(X)\), if \(X\) has a dense Čech-complete subspace and it belongs to the class \(\mathcal L\) of Kenderov (including metrizable, fragmentable, or more generally, so-called Stegall spaces). This is a non-trivial generalization of previous results of \textit{P. S. Kenderov} [C. R. Acad. Bulg. Sci. 37, 297--300 (1984; Zbl 0541.49006)], and \textit{G. Beer} [Nonlinear Anal., Theory Methods Appl. 12, No. 6, 647--655 (1988; Zbl 0686.90042)].
