Fat polynomials were recently introduced as a generalization of scattered polynomials. These polynomials define linear sets on the projective line with \(r\) points of weight greater than one and also rank-metric codes with a certain number of matrices of lower rank. The problem of finding examples of \(r\)-fat polynomials or classification results strongly depends on the field extension on which the polynomials are defined. In this paper the authors describe examples of \(1\)- and \(2\)-fat polynomials and they derive some properties. An analyze of the equivalence between a special class of \(2\)-fat polynomials is presented and also the authors pay attention to the case of polynomials over \(\mathbb{F}_{q^5}\). Finally, they describe consequences on rank-metric codes.\N\NFor the entire collection see [Zbl 1559.11005].
