The present article is part of the author's Ph.~D. thesis under the direction of H.~Queffélec. \textit{H. Hedenmalm, P. Lindqvist} and \textit{K. Seip} [Duke Math. J. 86, 1--36 (1997; Zbl 0887.46008)] introduced the Hilbert space \({\mathcal H} = {\mathcal H}^2\) of Dirichlet series with square summable coefficients, an analog for Dirichlet series of the space \(H^2(\mathbb{T})\) for Fourier series. The author now studies \({\mathcal H}^p\) for \(1\leq p \leq \infty\), an analog of \(H^p (\mathbb{T})\). Due to Bohr's version of Dirichlet series, \({\mathcal H}^p\) is isometrically isomorphic to \(H^p(\mathbb{T})\), the \(H^p\)-space on the infinite polycircle \[ \mathbb{T} = \{z = (z_n)_n\in\mathbb{C}^{\mathbb{N}}\, :\,| z_j|=1\quad \forall j\in\mathbb{N}\}, \] as defined in \textit{B. J. Cole} and \textit{T. W. Gamelin} [Proc. Lond. Math. Soc. (3) 53, 112--142 (1986; Zbl 0624.46032)]. If \(f\in {\mathcal H}^p\), then the Dirichlet series of \(f\), \(f(s) =\sum^\infty_{n=1} a_nn^{-s}\), converges in the half-plane \(\mathbb{C}_{1/2} = \{z\in\mathbb{C}\, :\,\text{Re}\,z > 1/2\}\), and if \(p\geq 2\), then \({\mathcal H}^p\) is contained, with continuous injection mapping, in the uniform local \(H^p\)-space on \(\mathbb{C}_{1/2}\), i.e., \[ \sup_{\theta\in\mathbb{R}}\sup_{\sigma>1/2}\int^{\theta+1}_\theta| g(\sigma+it)|^p\,dt <+\infty, \] and the injection is continuous with respect to the \(1/p\)-th root of the latter supremum. The interesting article under review contains many other results, such as a discussion of ``almost sure properties'' of functions in \({\mathcal H}^p\), of multipliers, and of multiplicative linear forms on \({\mathcal H}^p\). One section is devoted to the hypercontractivity of the semigroup \((T_\varepsilon)_\varepsilon\), \[ T_\varepsilon\left(\sum^\infty_{n=1} a_n n^{-s}\right) = \sum^\infty_{n=1} a_n n^{-\varepsilon}n^{-s}, \] from \({\mathcal H}^p\) to \({\mathcal H}^q\), \(1 \leq p\leq q < \infty\). The longest section deals with composition operators on \({\mathcal H}^p\), using that such a composition operator defines, in a natural way, a composition operator on \(H^p(\mathbb{T}^\infty)\). Here the author generalizes results of \textit{J. Gordon} and \textit{H. Hedenmalm} [Mich. Math. J. 46, 313--329 (1999; Zbl 0963.47021)] for \({\mathcal H}\). There is a subsection characterizing properties of composition operators like Fredholm, normal, isometric, and giving sufficient conditions that such an operator is compact or Hilbert--Schmidt (in the case \(p = 2\)). The paper finishes with some remarks, e.g., presenting an analog for Dirichlet series of Wiener's Tauberian theorem, and open questions.
