Let \(M^n\) be an \(n\)-dimensional submanifold of a complex space form of constant holomorphic sectional curvature \(4c\). Denote by \(H\) the mean curvature function on \(M\) and by \(\overline{\text{Ric}}\) the function on \(M\) assigning to each point \(p \in M^n\) the maximum of the Ricci curvature of \(M^n\) restricted to unit tangent vectors at \(p\). Then \(\overline{\text{Ric}} \leq (n+2)c + n^2H^2/4\) if \(c \geq 0\) and \(\overline{\text{Ric}} \leq (n-1)c + n^2H^2/4\) if \(c \leq 0\). The author obtains several results about CR-submanifolds \(M^n\) for which the induced totally real distribution on \(M^n\) is one-dimensional and which satisfy equality in the above inequalities.
