A sequence of points \(\mathcal{T}=\{t_n:n\geq 0\}\) is admissible if \(t_0=0\), \(t_1=1\) and \(t_n\in(0,1)\) for any \(n\geq 2\). Particularly if \(\mathcal{T}_n=\{t_i\}_{i=0}^n\), then we consider \(\pi_n\) obtained from \(\mathcal{T}_n\) by the nondecreasing permutation:\N\[\N\pi_n=\{\tau_i^n:\tau_i^n\leq\tau_i^{n+1}, 0\leq i \leq n\},\N\]\Nso \(\pi_n=\mathcal{T}_n\) and let us denote by \(S_n\) a space of functions defined on \([0,1]\), such that their are left-continuous, linear on \((\tau_i^n,\tau_i^{n+1})\) and continuous if \(\tau_{i-1}^n<\tau_i^n<\tau_{i+1}^n\), for any \(i=0,\dots,n\). Since, \(\dim(S_n)=n+1\) and \(S_{n-1}\subset S_n\), then there exist a unique function \(f_n\in S_n\), orthogonal to \(S_{n-1}\) and \(\|f_n\|_2=1\). In this way, \(f_n\) is the \(n\)th-Franklin function and the general Franklin system \(\{f_n\}_{n\geq 0}\) corresponding to the partition \(\mathcal{T}\) is defined as follows: \(f_0(t)=1\), \(f_1(t)=\sqrt{3}(2t-1)\) and for \(n\geq 2\), \(f_n\) is the \(n\)th-Franklin function, corresponding to the partition \(\mathcal{T}\).
