The paper deals with principally left strong radicals for associative rings. A radical \(\gamma\) is said to be principally left strong if \(L\subseteq\gamma(R)\) whenever \(L\) is a left ideal of a ring \(R\) such that \(Lz\) belongs to the radical class of \(\gamma\) for all \(z\in L\cup\{1\}\). Radical classes, as well as semisimple classes of principally left strong radicals are characterized (Theorem 2.4 and Corollary 2.3, respectively). Further, analogues of the lower radical construction and the upper radical construction for principally left strong radicals are investigated.
