The notation \(\text{GO}(2N,\mathbb C)\) appearing in the title is changed to \(\text{GO}(2n)\) in the rest of the paper, except for the final remark on p. 182 mentioning \(\text{GO}(2n,\mathbb C)\); similarly the notation \(\text{GL}(n,\mathbb C)\) is changed to \(\text{GL}(n)\). The following is a quote from the paper: \`\` The complex Lie group \(\text{GO}(n)\) is by definition the closed subgroup of \(GL(n)\) consisting of all matrices \(g\) such that \(^t gg\) is a scalar matrix \(\lambda I\) for some \(\lambda\in \mathbb C^\ast\).'' The authors' aim is to give an explicit description of the singular cohomology ring, with coefficients in \(\mathbb Z/(2)\), of the classifying space of \(\text{GO}(2n)\).
