A dual weak brace is a set \(S\) equipped with two binary operations \(+\) and \(\circ\) such that \((S,+)\) and \((S, \circ)\) are Clifford semigroups, and for any \(a, b, c \in S\), \N\[a \circ (b + c) = a \circ b - a + a \circ c\] and \N\[ a \circ a^- =-a + a,\] where \(-a\) and \(a^-\) are the inverses of \(a\) with respect to \(+\) and \(\circ\) respectively. It is a generalization of the notion of brace which provides set-theoretic solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation. Given a dual weak brace \((S,+,\circ)\), the authors study various properties of the set \N\[\mathcal{D}_r(S)=\{z\in S~|~(a+b)\circ z=a\circ z-z+b\circ z\}.\] In particular, they show that for any fixed \(z\in S\), the map \(r_z:S\times S\rightarrow S\times S\) defined by \N\[r_z(a,b)=(-a\circ z+a\circ b\circ z,(-a\circ z+a\circ b\circ z)^-\circ a\circ b),\] for all \(a,b\in S\), is a set-theoretic solution of the Yang-Baxter equation if and only if \(a\in \mathcal{D}_r(S)\).
