In this interesting article, it is shown that for any monic non constant polynomial \(P\in \mathbb C[x]\) and any \(\varepsilon >0\) there exists a monic irreducible polynomial \(Q\in \mathbb Z[x]\) such that modulus of the resultant of \(P, Q\) is less than \(\varepsilon\), i.e., \(|Res(P, Q)|<\varepsilon.\) Also in this context, regarding the smallest possible degree \(D_z\) of such a polynomial \(Q\) it is proved that \(D_z\leq 4~\text{ for all } z\in \mathbb C\) except for some quadratic algebraic numbers \(z.\) It must be mentioned here that however there is no universal upper bound on \(D_z,\) it is shown here that if \(l\geq 2, k>l^{2m-2}\) are natural numbers, then the condition \(D_z>m\) holds for \(z\) satisfying \(z^2-l^{-1}z+k=0.\) Corollary 8 in the article yields monic irreducible polynomials with integer coefficients and it precisely states that if \(P\in \mathbb C[x]\) is monic and has no roots which are algebraic integers, then there is an infinite sequence of distinct monic irreducible polynomials \(\{Q_n\}_{n\geq 1}\) in \(\mathbb Z[x]\) such that \N\[\N\displaystyle\lim_{n\rightarrow \infty}Res(P, Q_n)=0\N\]\Nand in case if \(P\) has among its roots algebraic integers belonging to, say, \(k\geq 1\) distinct conjugate sets, then there are \(k\) monic irreducible polynomials \(Q_j\in \mathbb Z[x], 1\leq j\leq k\) such that \(Res(P, Q_j)=0.\) Furthermore, if \(P\in \mathbb Z[x],\) then these \(Q_j, 1\leq j\leq k\) are irreducible factors of \(P\) and \(|Res(P, Q)|\geq 1\) for any monic irreducible integer polynomial \(Q\) which is not equal to any such \(Q_j.\)\N\NThe auxiliary results, propositions and proofs are thought-provoking and the presentation is elegant.
