Let \(M\) be a manifold and let \(\mathcal{O}(M)\) be the poset of open subsets of. In order to study the space of smooth embeddings of \ inside another manifold, \textit{T. G. Goodwillie} and \textit{M. Weiss} [Geom. Topol. 3, 103--118 (1999; Zbl 0927.57028); \textit{M. Weiss}, Geom. Topol. 3, 67--101 (1999; Zbl 0927.57027)] developed the theory of manifold calculus. In particular, \textit{M. Weiss} [Geom. Topol. 3, 67--101 (1999; Zbl 0927.57027)] established a deep result about the classification of homogeneous functors of degree \(k\).\N\NThis paper classifies homogeneous functors of degree \(k\) from \(\mathcal{O} (M)\) into any simplicial model category \(\mathcal{M}\). The main result of the paper goes as follows:\N\NTheorem. Let \(\mathcal{M}\) be a simplicial model category, and let \(A\in\mathcal{M}\). Then there is a topological space \(\widehat{A}\) such that for any manifold \(M\),\N\N\begin{itemize}\N\item[(1)] if \(k=1\), there is a bijection\N\[\N\mathcal{F}_{1A}(\mathcal{O}(M);\mathcal{M})/\mathfrak{w\cong}\left[ M,\widehat{A}\right]\N\]\N\N\item[(2)] if \(k\geq2\) and \(\mathcal{M}\) has a zero object, there is a bijection\N\[\N\mathcal{F}_{kA}(\mathcal{O}(M);\mathcal{M})/\mathfrak{w\cong}\left[ F_{k}(M),\widehat{A}\right]\N\]\N\end{itemize}\N\NThe synopsis of the paper goes as follows.\N\begin{itemize}\N\item[\S 2] presents some basic results.\N\N\item[\S 3] defines the simplicial set \(\widehat{A}_{\cdot}\), establishing that \ is a Kan complex.\N\N\item[\S 4] establishes that\N\[\N\mathcal{F}_{A}(\mathcal{U}(\mathcal{T}^{M});\mathcal{M})\left[ W^{-1}\right] \simeq\mathcal{F}(\mathcal{U}(\mathcal{T}^{M});\mathcal{C}_{A})\left[ W^{-1}\right]\N\]\N\N\item[\S 5 \& \S 6] establish\N\[\N\mathcal{F}(\mathcal{U}(\mathcal{T}^{M});\mathcal{C}_{A})/\mathfrak{w}\cong\left[ \mathcal{T}_{\cdot}^{M},\widehat {A}_{\cdot}\right]\N\]\N\N\item[\S 7] is dedicated to the proof of the main result.\N\N\item[\S 8] states a conjecture saying how the classification given here is related to that of \textit{M. Weiss} [Geom. Topol. 3, 67--101 (1999; Zbl 0927.57027)].\N\end{itemize}
