Let \(\mathbf{V}\) be a ground model and \(\mathbb{P}\) a forcing. For topological spaces \((X,\mathcal{T}_X)\) and \((Y,\mathcal{T}_Y)\) let \(F_{X,Y}\) (resp. \(F^\mathbb{P}_{X,Y}\)) denote the collection of continuous in \(\mathbf{V}\) (resp. \(\mathbf{V}^\mathbb{P}\)) functions \((X,\mathcal{T}_X)\to Y,\mathcal{T}_Y)\) (resp. \((X,\mathcal{T}^\mathbb{P}_X)\to Y,\mathcal{T}^\mathbb{P}_Y)\)). Suppose \((X,\mathcal{T}_X)\) is completely regular and \(Y\) has at least two points then each of the following statements implies the next: \((X,\mathcal{T}_X)\) is scattered compact and \((Y,\mathcal{T}_Y)\) is discrete; \(F_{X,Y} = F^\mathbb{P}_{X,Y}\) for any forcing \(\mathbb{P}\); \(F_{X,Y} = F^\mathbb{P}_{X,Y}\) for any ccc forcing \(\mathbb{P}\); \((X,\mathcal{T}_X)\) is scattered, zero-dimensional and pseudocompact. The reversibility of these implications is investigated. Circumstances under which ccc forcing introduces a new homeomorphism are also presented.
