The authors of this paper deal with the robust strictly positive realness (SPR) stabilizability for low degree systems. \(P^n\) represents the set of polynomials of \(n\)th degree in the indetermined variable \(s\) with coefficients in the field \(\mathbb{R}\) of real numbers, \(\partial(p)\) denotes the degree of the polynomial \(p(\cdot)\), and \(H^n\subset P^n\) is the set of Hurwitz polynomials of \(n\)th degree. A rational function \(f(s)\) of the form \(f(s)= p(s)/q(s)\) with \(p(\cdot)\in P^m\) and \(q(\cdot)\in P^n\) is said to be SPR if: (1) \(\partial(p)= \partial(q)\); (2) \(f(s)\) is analytic in \(\text{Re}[s]\geq 0\) (i.e. \(q(\cdot)\in H^n\)); (3) \(\text{Re}[f(j\omega)]> 0\) for all \(\omega\in\mathbb{R}\). The main result states that if \(a(s)= s^3+ a_1s^2+ a_2s+ a_3\in H^3\) and \(b(s)= s^3+ b_1 s^2+ b_2s+ b_3\in H^3\), then a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of \(c(s)\) such that both \(c(s)/a(s)\) and \(c(s)/b(s)\) are SPR is \[ \lambda b(S)+ (1-\lambda) a(s)\in H^3,\qquad\lambda\in [0,1]. \]
