The Hamiltonian surface terms for classes of asymptotic open Friedmann-Robertson-Walker spacetimes, including the Tolman spacetimes are calculated and discussed. It is argued that for Tolman spacetimes these terms are zero but for more general spacetimes there seem to be non-vanishing contributions.
