In the paper under review, the authors study structural properties of the singular pure braid group \(\mathrm{SP}_n\), defined as the kernel of the canonical epimorphism \(\mathrm{SB}_n \to \mathfrak{S}_n\). They provide a finite presentation for \(\mathrm{SP}_n\) (\(n \ge 3\)) with fewer defining relations than the presentation given by \textit{O. T. Dasbach} and \textit{B. Gemein} [``The word problem for the singular braid monoid'', Preprint, \url{arXiv:math/9809070}] and prove that its center is a direct factor, unlike in the full group \(\mathrm{SB}_n\).\N\NA key concept introduced is that of a subgroup of camomile type, whose presentation is obtained from a given petal subgroup by conjugation. The authors show that \(\mathrm{SP}_n\) is such a subgroup of \(\mathrm{SB}_n\) for \(n \ge 5\), with petal \(\mathrm{SP}_4\). Similar results are recalled for pure and virtual braid groups.\N\NThe final part develops algebraic invariants for singular links via singquandles, defined through Reidemeister moves for singular knots. The authors construct the fundamental singquandle both diagrammatically and via endomorphism representations of the singular braid monoid and define associated link groups through extensions of the Artin representation.
