From the summary: ``We establish the existence and uniqueness of symmetric Dunkl-classical orthogonal polynomials, and confirm that the two families of generalized Hermite orthogonal polynomials and Gegenbauer orthogonal polynomials are the only ones belonging to this class. Two apparently new characterizations in a more general setting are given. This paper complements earlier work of \textit{Y. Ben Cheikh} and \textit{M. Gaied} [Appl. Math. Comput. 187, No. 1, 105--114 (2007; Zbl 1112.33004)].'' \N\NThe main result (Theorem 2.1) is a characterization connecting the recurrence coefficients \( \gamma_n \) for orthogonal polynomials \( \{ P_n\} \), with \[ P_{n+2}(x)=xP_{n+1}(x)-\gamma_{n+1}P_n(x),\] and the coefficients \( \tilde{\gamma}_n \) for \( Q_n(x)=\mu_{n+1}^{-1}(T_{\mu}P_{n+1})(x) \), with \[ Q_{n+2}(x)=xQ_{n+1}(x)-\tilde{\gamma}_{n+1}Q_n(x), \] \Nwhere \( T_{\mu} \) is the one-dimensional Dunkl operator \[ (T_{\mu}f)(x)=f'(x)+\mu\frac{f(x)-f(-x)}{x}, \]\Nwith \( T_{\mu}x^n=\mu_nx^{n-1}. \)
