Let \(\Omega\) be a simply connected plain domain and \(0< p< \infty\). Suppose that \(A^p_w(\Omega)\) stands for a weighted Bergman space \[ A^p_w(\Omega)= \Biggl\{f\in H(\Omega): \| f\|_{w,p}= \Biggl(\int_{\Omega}|f(z)|^p w^p(z)\,dm(z)\Biggr)^{1/p}< \infty\Biggr\}, \] where \(dm(z)\) denotes the Lebesgue area measure. Here \(H(\Omega)\) stands for the space of analytic functions on \(\Omega\) and \(w: \Omega\to\mathbb{R}^+\) is an arbitrary weight such that \(A^p_w(\Omega)\) contains a nonzero function. In this interesting paper, the author is interested in the pointwise multiplication operator \(M_\psi: A^p_w(\Omega)\to A^p_w(\Omega)\), \(M_\psi(f)(z)= \psi(z) f(z)\), where \(\psi: \Omega\to\mathbb C\) denotes always a bounded non-constant analytic function on a simply connected domain \(\Omega\subseteq \mathbb{C}\). The author characterizes when a pointwise multiplication operator \(M_\psi\) has closed range. In particular, the result holds for weights \(w(z)= \xi(d(z,\partial S))\), \(\xi: \mathbb{R}^+\to \mathbb{R}^+\), \(\xi\geq 0\), defined on a strip \(S\), or weights \(w(z)= (\text{Re\,}z)^\alpha\), \(\alpha> -{1\over p}\), defined on the right half plane.
