The authors apply the local time step method (LTSM) [\textit{J. D. Anderson jun.}, Computational Fluid Dynamics; The Basics with Applications, McGraw-Hill, N.Y. (1995)] to the lattice Boltzmann method on nonuniform grid in order to obtain steady-state solution with reduction in computational time. The LTSM is an effective technique to accelerate the solution to the converged steady state on nonuniform grid. It means that each grid point uses a time step, which is based on the local advection term stability condition. The convergence to the steady-state flow is accelerated since a larger time step can be used for a larger grid cell. Applications of the generalized interpolation lattice Boltzmann method to the two-dimensional problems: 1. Flow around a circular cylinder; and 2. Flow around a NACA0012 airfoil are given.
