The author studies the twists \(F_\chi(s) = \sum_{n=1}^\infty a(n)\chi(n)n^{-s}\), where \(F(s)= \sum_{n=1}^\infty a(n)n^{-s}\) is in the Selberg class \(\mathcal S\) [see the survey of \textit{J. Kaczorowski, A. Perelli} for the relevant definitions and properties of \(\mathcal S\), in: Number Theory in Progress, Györy K. et al. (eds.), Proc. Conf. in Honor of A. Schinzel, de Gruyter, 953--992 (1999; Zbl 0929.11028)], and \(\chi(n)\) is a primitive character modulo \(q\). If \(F_\chi(s)\) also belongs to the Selberg class \(\mathcal S\) and satisfies some other (natural) relations, then there is a relation between the zeros of \(F(s)\) and the zeros of \(F_\chi(s)\). This is contained in three theorems, whose formulation is too long to be reproduced here. The author also gives an interesting interpretation of this relation in the operator setting, in the light of the work of \textit{A. Connes} [Sel. Math., New Ser. 5, 29--106 (1999; Zbl 1039.11083)].
