Attempts to extend the crisp mathematical programming theory and game theory to the fuzzy sets area have led to establishing new disciplines, namely the fuzzy mathematical programming and fuzzy game theory. The book presents a systematic theory of these disciplines oriented primarily to senior undergraduate students, as well as to graduate students and researchers in the area of fuzzy optimization and related topics. Special attention is devoted to various approaches to fuzzy linear and quadratic programming, appropriate models for the corresponding concept of duality, matrix game theory, and bi-matrix game theory. The material of the book is divided into 10 chapters. The first chapter introduces readers to some basic facts from the crisp linear and quadratic programming. The next two chapters summarize main results of the fuzzy sets theory, fuzzy numbers and fuzzy arithmetic, which are necessary in further chapters. The main material of the book is presented in Chapters 4--10. Chapters 4 and 5 deal with fuzzy linear and quadratic programming as well as with various approaches to the duality theory. Matrix games with fuzzy goals and fuzzy pay-offs are investigated in Chapters 6--8. Models of fuzzy bi-matrix games are studied in Chapter 9. Chapter 10 includes some alternative approaches to fuzzy linear programming (e.g., modality approach, fuzzy linear programming via fuzzy relations, fuzzy linear programming with fuzzy coefficients and appropriate duality models). Theoretical results and algorithms are illustrated through small numerical examples.
