The authors are concerned with the stability of special classes of mixed finite elements for problems in linear elasticity, namely the family of BDMS elements and the PEERS elements. In contrast to previous approaches, the inf-sup condition is verified for the standard norms instead of mesh dependent norms. The proof relies on the construction of appropriate Fortin operators.
