    The paper deals with the differential inclusion \[ x''+g(x')+f(x)\in \varphi(t)-\mu(x) \text{Sgn}\, x' \tag{1} \] where \(\text{Sgn}\, z= z/|z|\) for \(z\not= 0\) and \(\text{Sgn}\, z =[-1,1]\) for \(z= 0\). Here \(\mu:\mathbb R\to\mathbb R^+\) is continuous, \(f, g:\mathbb R\to \mathbb R\) are continuous, \(\varphi:\mathbb R\to\mathbb R\) is Lebesgue measurable, bounded and \(T\)-periodic. Equation (1) models for example a mechanical system with one degree of freedom subjected to dry friction and periodic external force. Key conditions for \(f\) and \(g\) used here are: There exist constants \(\gamma, \delta \in (0,\infty)\), \(c_0, c_1, d_0, d_1\in [0,\infty)\), \(\alpha, \beta \in (0,1)\) and functions \(c,d:\mathbb R\to [0,\infty)\) such that \[ |c(r)|\leq c_0+c_1|r|^\alpha,\quad |d(r)|\leq d_0+d_1|r|^\beta,\quad f(r)-\gamma r=c(r),\quad g(r)-\delta r =d(r). \] The author proves the existence of a \(T\)-periodic solution by means of the topological degree theory. This existence result extends and generalizes some previous ones citied in the references.
