Generalizing 1-dimensional tilting equivalences, Menini and Orsatti (1989) characterized equivalences between subcategories of module categories via the hom-tensor adjunction. Special instances of such correspondences are given by \(\ast\)-modules which slightly generalize tilting modules. The present authors extend this context to adjoint functors between arbitrary categories. The analogue of a \(\ast\)-module is a \(\ast\)-functor, which provides a Menini-Orsatti type equivalence in the widest sense for the non-additive case.
