The author considers the following Dirichlet problem for an elliptic equation in divergence form \[ \begin{cases} -\text{div}(A(x)\nabla u(x))=\text{div}f,\quad x\in\Omega,\\ u(x)=0,\quad x\in\partial\Omega,\end{cases}\tag{1} \] where \(\Omega\) is an open and bounded subset of \(\mathbb R^n\) and the coefficient matrix \(A(x)\) can have large jumps along the boundary of subdomains. Domains and subdomains are Reifenberg flat domains, and the coefficients are supposed to be in the John-Nirenberg space with small BMO seminorms, i.e., the author treats the elliptic Dirichlet problem (1) with the singular coefficient matrix \(A(x)\). All the definitions are provided. A function \(u\in H^1_0(\Omega)\) is called a weak solution of (1) if \[ \int_{\Omega}A\nabla u\nabla\varphi dx=-\int_{\Omega}f\nabla\varphi dx,\quad \forall\varphi\in H^1_0(\Omega). \] The main result of the paper reads as follows. Let \(1<p<\infty\). Then, under suitable conditions and restrictions, for all \(f\in L^p(\Omega,\mathbb R^n)\), the Dirichlet problem (1) has a unique weak solution which satisfies the estimate \[ \int_{\Omega}|\nabla u|^pdx\leq C\int_{\Omega}|f|^pdx, \] where the constant \(C\) does not depend on \(u\) and \(f\).
