Some results of Katznelson-Tzafriri type (Q713439)

Let \(T\) be a contraction on a Banach space \(X\). The Katznelson-Tzafriri theorem [\textit{Y. Katznelson} and \textit{L. Tzafriri}, J. Funct. Anal. 68, 313--328 (1986; Zbl 0611.47005)] says that \(\lim_{n\to\infty}\|T^nf(T)\|=0\) if \(f\) is of spectral synthesis with respect to \(\sigma(T)\cap{\mathbb T}\). The author proves several related results for semigroups \(S={\mathbb R}_+,{\mathbb Z}_+\) and \({\mathbb Z}_+^k\) concerning the quantity \(\inf_{t\in S}\|T(t)\widehat{f}(T)\|\), where \(\widehat{f}(T):x\mapsto\int_S f(t)T(t)xdt\) and \(T\) be a representation of a locally compact abelian group, equipped with the Haar measure, by contractions on \(X\).
