The authors consider the space of convex planar \(n\)-gons whose triangles made by any three consecutive vertices have equal area. It is shown that this space has dimension \(n-5\) as a subset of the \(2n\)-affine dimensional space. More importantly, for such polygons, called equal area polygons, the authors define the affine tangent, affine normal at each vertex and, respectively, the affine curvature at each edge carrying over some of the properties of their counterparts for smooth curves. With these definitions, an analogue of the six vertex theorem from affine differential geometry is proved. Moreover, a discrete analogue of the isoperimetric inequality relating the total affine curvature to the affine length and area is shown.
