In a previous work, D'Atri and Ziller obtained a number of left-invariant naturally reductive Einstein metrics on compact Lie groups. In general, it is not easy to classify Einstein metrics, such a classification is not known for simple examples such as \(\mathrm{SU}(3)\) or \({\mathrm{SU}(2)\times\mathrm{SU}(2)}\). In an other work, the second author obtained non-naturally reductive Einstein metrics on \(\mathrm{SU}(n)\) for \(n\geq 6\) using a method of Riemannian submersions. In the present paper, it is proved that Lie groups \(\mathrm{SO}(n)\) for \(n\geq 11\), \(\mathrm{Sp}(n)\) for \(n\geq 3\), \(\mathrm{E}_6\), \(\mathrm{E}_7\) and \(\mathrm{E}_8\) admit left-invariant non-naturally reductive Einstein metrics. The method is based on Kähler C-spaces (generalized flag manifolds) \(G/H\) associated to \(G\). Kähler C-spaces of interest correspond to painted Dynkin diagrams with one black root and they are divided into types Ia, Ib, IIa and IIb. The non-naturally reductive Einstein metrics arise from types Ib and IIb.
